Sony Pictures and MGM have released the first star-studded trailer for Antonie Fuqua’s remake of the classic western The Magnificent Seven, proving the Wild West is still pretty wild.
The film follows a group of mercenaries who are on a mission trying to protect a desolate and desperate town. Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio, Byung-Hun Lee, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Martin Sensmeier team up to play cowboys blowing up everything and anything that gets in the way. Together this amazing team hopes to destroy the villainous outlaw played by Peter Sarsgaard. Check out the trailer below.
“These guys are gunslingers, and when they walk into the room, you notice them,” Fuqua shared with USA Today. “These are people you want to be with, or you want to protect you.”
Along with the trailer, USA Today dropped some first look pictures of The Magnificent Seven on Tuesday. The pictures show the cast in all their glory really settling into to the Wild West era, especially Washington. The Oscar winner took horseback riding lessons and his relationship with his nickel-plated Colt .45 Peacemaker pretty seriously.
“He had it with him all the time, even when he wasn’t on the set,” Fuqua says. “We’d have meetings and he’d be spinning and twirling his gun while we were talking. He used to walk around his house spinning guns, go to restaurants. Obviously, people knew it was for his character.”
See the new pictures here and be sure to check out The Magnificent Seven in theaters on September 23.
