It’s no question that water is soothing. Just the sound of water trickling down rocks or dripping into a small pond can elicit visions of tranquility. Waterfront properties are always the most expensive in any given area and pools are highly desired no matter how far inland you are.

However, you don’t have to spend a fortune or own a big backyard for water to enter your life. Below, we have several DIY fountain options for the person who doesn’t have a lot of space or deep pockets.

This bamboo fountain is great even if you don’t have a yard. The bamboo will bring some zen into your life and the sound of trickling water will melt the stress away. You can follow the steps on how to make one here.

For a more elegant feel, this garden vase water feature has you covered. The most expensive part of the project is finding a vase. Depending on how much room you have, you can choose either a large or small vase. Click here for the tutorial.

This fountain has the same basic principle as the vase, except it’s a bit more involved since you have to construct the actual fountain from scratch. It’s clearly worth it though. You could perhaps even paint it to look like a mushroom. Check out the tutorial here.

Three-Tiered Fountain

This tiered fountain looks like it could go for about $400 bucks at a garden store. Nope! It’s actually made of random plates and a wood nightstand. The trick for making it look expensive is placement and paint. Check out how to make one here.

Concrete Fountain

This concrete fountain requires a bit more skill and patience, but it’s still doable. The tutorial shows you how to cast concrete yourself using a foam mold. You then would cut out the structure from the foam and assemble it like any other fountain. Check out the tutorial here.

Bucket Rock Fountain

Contrary to the last fountain, this one is super easy and low maintenance. For this project, you can use whatever base suits your fancy and fill it with river rocks or other materials. See how to do it here.

Watering Can Fountain

This fountain will look super cute in any backyard. You will need a fence or wall to use as support for the higher watering can, or you could potentially just get a tall post with a hook to hold it up. Check out how to do it here.

Disappearing Water Fountain

You have to admit, this one is pretty cool. The idea is to have the fountain shoot up like a geyser and return to the base of rocks where it will “disappear” instead of forming a pond. The tutorial claims you can get it done between $100 and $200. If you’re feeling up to a challenge, you can check out how to make it here.
