‘Dragons’ Could Be Coming to Union Square for ‘Game of Thrones’ Event
Union Square could be facing a dragon invasion next week.
HBO is planning a promotional stunt in Union Square on March 15 to promote the upcoming sixth season of Game of Thrones. According to the Community Board 5 website calendar, HBO received a permit from the park to hold an event in Union Square on March 15.
According to DNA Info, allegedly it could involve “dragons landing in the park.”
On the Community Board 5 website calendar, it states: “Application to hold Game of Thrones installation to promote the release of the Season 5 DVD/Blu-Ray in Union Square Park on March 15th, 7am-8pm.”
The committee approved the request, and the full board is expected to vote on the matter Thursday.
A spokeswoman for HBO confirmed the event, but did not go into much specifics.
This isn’t the first time the show popped up in New York streets.
After last season finale, a make-shift memorial to the Commander of the Night’s Watch appeared on the streets of Williamsburg, much to the surprise of many fans who did not yet see the finale.
