‘EW’ Cover Story Puts New Marvel Hero Black Panther In The Spotlight
On Wednesday, Entertainment Weekly revealed an exclusive look at the newest hero to join the world of Marvel’s Avengers.
Marvel superhero Black Panther, who was revealed last week in the first full-length trailer for Captain America: Civil War, graces the cover of the new issue of the entertainment magazine along with two of the film series’ most recognizable faces, Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.).
Black Panther in the Marvel Comics is the king of the African nation of Wakanda. Actor Chadwick Boseman will play the role in the film, as well as subsequent Marvel movies, including his own film, Black Panther, scheduled to hit theaters February 16, 2018.
The cover story revealed several set photos released by Marvel showing the new character in action.
Fans have already begun speculation on what, if anything, the cover story tagline could mean. It reads:
“The biggest Marvel movie yet introduces Black Panther. He’s tall, powerful – and has claws that a real housewife would envy.”
The character is also seemingly saying, “Meow,” on the cover, a cheeky detail that fits into the sometimes light-hearted, action-packed films.
It’s an odd way to introduce the character to a wider audience that will be relatively unfamiliar with the hero, but whether it reveals any clues to the film is still undetermined.
