‘Ghostbusters’ Ramps Up Promotional Blitz With Chris Hemsworth Video, New Posters
It’s been an eventful few days for fans of the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot. The film, which has found itself controversial due to its principally female cast and hard reset of the franchise, has begun a new round of publicity blitz leading up to its July release.
On Monday it was announced that the Ghostbusters-themed Hi-C flavor Ecto Cooler would be returning after a 15-year hiatus. That announcement was followed by two more major releases on Tuesday.
The first, in celebration of Administrative Professionals Day (April 27), focuses on Chris Hemsworth’s secretary character, Kevin. The promo video mixes footage from the film that mainly shows some comic relief moments from the character combined with behind the scenes footage with Hemsworth’s co-stars and director Paul Feig discussing the actor. Leslie Jones credits the actor’s performance, saying “There’s no way that you’re this sweet, this funny, this fine — it’s not fair.”
Hemsworth himself speaks on Kevin’s part in the film, saying in the video, “Kevin thinks he’s going to become a Ghostbuster too. He takes a whole load of equipment, gets a bike and builds his own uniform and is like, look, I’m one of the gang now.”
In addition to the video, the film’s Twitter account recently tweeted three brand new character posters. The striking images, focused on Kristin Wiig’s Erin Gilbert, Kate McKinnon’s Jillian Holtzman, and Leslie Jones’ Patty Tolan, each have an action focus to them. The characters are shown wielding their proton-packs in a fighting stance, each accompanied by a character specific quote such as Tolan’s “The power of Patty compels you.”
Studio executives are hoping plenty of moviegoers answer the call when Ghostbusters hits theaters July 15.
