The Chicago White Sox’s season high for runs and hits was overshadowed by their all-time high for most pooches at the park.

Tuesday night, the Guinness World Record for “Most Dogs Attending a Sporting Event” was achieved at U.S. Cellular Field by the White Sox for hosting 1,122 dogs on their annual Bark at the Park night.

“We received a tremendous turnout for our four-legged friends tonight,” Brooks Boyer, senior vice president of Sales and Marketing of the White Sox, told the Chicago Sun Times. “We are thrilled that the White Sox dog-friendly event has become a storied piece of our tradition, especially as we add a milestone with tonight’s ‘most dogs attending a sporting event’ title through Guinness World Records.”

Back in 1996, the White Sox became the first major league team to have a day dedicated to dogs at their stadium.

The White Sox needed at least a thousand dogs in attendance to beat the record and needed these dogs to remain in their seats in the outfield for 10 minutes at the start of the top of the third inning.

Keeping all those Sox-swag-dressed doggies sitting for that long sounds tough, but with the help of a paying crowd of 15,588 humans the record was achieved and announced in the middle of the sixth inning.

Scope these puppies hydrating before the big moment through the game’s ingenious “Bowl Cam.”
