Hillary Clinton Draws Criticism for Wearing $12,000 Armani Jacket During Inequality Speech

She may have presumably secured the Democratic nomination for president, but that likely only means the criticism of Hillary Clinton will be ramped up in the coming weeks and months.

That criticism started bright and early Tuesday morning when it was revealed Clinton wore a $12,495 Giorgio Armani jacket during a speech on inequality back in April.

From the New York Post:

“Hillary Clinton’s New York primary victory speech in April focused on topics including income inequality, job creation and helping people secure their retirement. It was a clear attempt to position herself as an everywoman.

“But an everywoman she is not — she gave the speech in a $12,495 Giorgio Armani tweed jacket.”

The story has drawn criticism from both sides of the aisle, with predictably Republicans jumping on the story, but many supporters of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders pointing out Clinton’s move to become “more relatable” only disconnects her more from the liberal/progressive base.

The Post’s story highlights Clinton’s change in wardrobe over the course of this election cycle, with the candidate choosing to shed the “frumpy pastel skirtsuits” she’s worn for years to the “high-end European labels” she now wears.

The Post estimates Clinton has spent nearly $200,000 on a new wardrobe in this election, a number that is sure to only infuriate liberals and conservatives all over the country who struggle on a weekly basis to put food on the table.
