Is it a bell? Is it a navigation device? Is it a light? It’s actually all of that and more!

It’s Shoka Bell, the first all-in-one navigational safety device that clips onto your bicycle’s handlebars turning it into a smart bike. Created by clever cyclists who simply wanted to make biking safer, easier, and also fun, Shoka Bell takes all the guess work out of being seen and heard so you can enjoy cruising along with no worries.

Shoka Bell is portable, attaching to your bike’s handlebar with a metal click. An internal charging mechanism gives you 200 hours of battery life so you only have to charge it every few weeks (or for those marathon bike rides).

The “bell” is actually so much more than the standard clicking bells attached to the handlebars of your old Schwinn banana seat special; there are eight various sound alerts that are two times louder than normal bells. There’s the simple ‘friendly warning ring’ when a mother and child are crossing in front of you, a loud ring in a dangerous crosswalk, or downloadable sounds that alert you of approaching pedestrians walking their dog. The bell is smart enough to adapt to its surrounding noise levels so if construction workers are tearing up the street with a jackhammer, they will hear you coming. There’s also no more heavy bike chains or taking your tire off when you leave your bike. If someone tries to steal the bike, an alarm sounds that you can hear within a mile.

Here’s another scenario where Shoka Bell comes to the rescue: It’s late at night and your visibility is compromised. It’s light automatically adapts to speed and lighting conditions which will light your way even in pitch black darkness. Designed for city riding, the eight front-facing LEDs shine bright enough to get you noticed without blinding oncoming cyclists or drivers. What’s more the bell comes in bright neon colors including blue, green, yellow, purple, and red so you may even glow in the dark.

If you’re taking that bucket list joy ride through the mountains of Switzerland and you’ve suddenly lost your way back to the hotel, don’t fret. Shoka Bell has its own navigation system which will lead you home. While connected to your phone the Shoka app will find you the safest and accident-free routes in real time. Plus you can connect with the Shoka community. Just remember: ride responsibly; don’t swipe and bike.

Shoka Bell will make your bike so smart that it even knows when you’re coming to ride it. Sensing your presence it turns it on or shuts it down.

Daniel Falus, co-founder and CEO says on their Kickstarter page “We created Shoka Bell because we wanted to make it easier and safer to get around in our cities.”

The company has already surpassed their initial fundraising goal of $75,000.
