Internet Mocks Trump Spokeswoman After She Blames Obama For 2004 Death of Captain Khan

You would think at this point in the election process that we would be somewhat desensitized to the questionable commentary and behavior that have come out of the Trump campaign.

And just when we think that, here comes Trump and his spokespeople and advisors and confidantes, proving us wrong again.

This time, the entertainment comes from Trump spokeswoman Katrina Pierson, who, during an interview with Wolf Blitzer on CNN, blamed President Obama for the death of Army Captain Humayun Khan regarding the rules of engagement that lead to Khan’s 2004 death. Except, of course, Obama was not elected president until 2008.

“It was under Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton that changed the rules of engagement that probably cost [Khan’s] life,” said Pierson.

Captain Khan is the son of Gold Star parents Ghazala and Khizr Khan, the parents who condemned Trump during the Democratic National Convention and who have been caught in a war-of-words with the presidential hopeful ever since.

Perhaps this lapse in judgement occurred because the campaign is so used to attacking their political enemies, or perhaps Pierson just has no knowledge (or was never taught by the campaign advisors) about the rules of engagement in foreign policy the last 20 years? We may never know. We, of course, know that it was President Bush, not President Obama, who was in office in 2004.

The internet, as expected, is not letting Pierson get away with this mistake without a little fun. Thus, the hashtag #KatrinaPiersonHistory was born.
