Jennifer Lawrence Drops Out Of Richard Linklater’s New Romance Film

Jennifer Lawrence has walked away from Boyhood director Richard Linklater’s upcoming romance, The Rosie Project.

The Oscar winner was slated to star in the filmmaker’s new project, which is an adaptation of author Graeme Simsion’s bestselling novel of the same name.

The Rosie Project centers on a socially inept genetics professor who creates a scientifically-crafted survey in order to find the perfect wife, but his system is thrown off the rails when he falls in love with a woman called Rosie, who meets none of his carefully-crafted criteria.

Following news of her departure, reports surfaced she is now in talks to star in Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky’s untitled independent film, which he hopes to begin shooting in the spring.

The news of the casting shakeup comes hours after Lawrence’s essay, titled Why Do I Make Less Than My Male Co-Stars?, was published in Lena Dunham‘s new feminist newsletter.

In the stirring piece, the actress admonished herself for accepting less money than her male American Hustle co-stars, because she failed to fight for a bigger salary.

“When the Sony hack happened and I found out how much less I was being paid than the lucky people with d**ks, I didn’t get mad at Sony, I got mad at myself,” she wrote. “I failed as a negotiator because I gave up early. I didn’t want to keep fighting over millions of dollars that, frankly, due to two franchises, I don’t need.”

“Could there still be a lingering habit of trying to express our opinions in a certain way that doesn’t ‘offend’ or ‘scare’ men?” she continued. “At the time, that seemed like a fine idea, until I saw the payroll on the Internet and realized every man I was working with definitely didn’t worry about being ‘difficult’ or ‘spoiled’. I’m over trying to find the ‘adorable’ way to state my opinion and still be likeable! F**k that.”

It’s not known if salary had anything to do with her quitting the new Linklater film.
