John Legend, Foo Fighters Among Stars Releasing Special Vinyls for Planned Parenthood
Musicians and comedians including John Legend, Bjork, and Foo Fighters have joined forces to release vinyl singles in support of Planned Parenthood.
Legend had previously teased a collaboration with St. Vincent and Zach Galifianakis in aid of the women’s health charity, posting pictures of himself in the studio, and full details of their collaboration were revealed on Monday.
The trio have recorded a version of Minnie Riperton’s track “Lovin’ You,” which will be one of a series of 7-inch singles for Planned Parenthood, released on vinyl, to raise funds for the organization, whose funding has come under attack from U.S. President Donald Trump’s Republican administration.

Posting a promotional video for their cover version of the 1975 hit on Twitter, Legend wrote, “I sat down with @st_vincent to cover Lovin’ You for @7inchesforpp with some tips from @galifianakisz. #IStandWithPP.”
The project features a host of other A-list contributors, including Bjork, Foo Fighters, Bon Iver, Mary J. Blige, Sarah Silverman, Margaret Cho and Canadian author Margaret Atwood.
Also participating is actress turned filmmaker Kristen Stewart, who directed a video featuring Scottish band Chvrches.
Since its founding in 1916, Planned Parenthood has provided and campaigned for better provision of healthcare to women, helping with birth control, including access to abortion.
One of Trump’s first acts as president was to sign an executive order barring the U.S. government from providing funding to any group helping women obtain abortions.
In a post on Facebook, organizers of the star-studded vinyl project responded to the threat Planned Parenthood is facing.
“Lawmakers with extreme views are working hard to shut down Planned Parenthood,” the post read. “If they succeed, millions of Americans will lose access to basic health services, including STD (sexually transmitted diseases) testing and treatment, birth control, and life-saving cancer screenings. 7-inches for PlannedParenthood is a response to this threat.”
Others involved in the project include Elliott Smith, Jenny Slate and Tig Notaro.
