Johnny Depp’s divorce battle just got nasty – his estranged wife has filed for protection against the movie star.
Amber Heard has filed a domestic violence restraining order against the Pirates of the Caribbean star less than a week after starting divorce proceedings.
A photo of the 30-year-old actress sporting what appears to be a bruise on her right eye was submitted as evidence along with her request.
A domestic violence restraining order is a court order that helps protect people from abuse or threat of abuse.
On Thursday, Depp’s representative addressed the gossip surrounding the shock marriage break-up, stating, “Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life. Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.”
The couple wed last year and was married for just 15 months.
Heard filed for divorce on Monday, citing irreconcilable differences. The shock split came just days after the death of Depp’s beloved mother, Betty Sue Palmer, who passed away on May 20 following a long illness.
Depp has hired top divorce lawyer Laura Wasser to represent him, while Heard has hired the services of Samantha Spector.
TMZ reports the actress and her attorney were armed with photos showing various signs of abuse when they arrived in court on Friday. Heard, who also sported a bruise on her face, is asking for a temporary restraining order.
Depp is currently promoting his new movie Alice Through the Looking Glass, which opens on Friday.
