Summer is finally here which means sunshine, barbecues, and warm weather! But along with the warm weather and sunshine comes ants and other pesky problems.
YouTuber Grant Thompson has put together a list of summer hacks hoping to make everything easier. The hacks will help you out during your next barbecue, next time you want a sweet snack, or even with some simple solutions around the backyard. Check out the list below!
Hamburger Hack
Next time you go to eat a burger, turn the bun upside down.
The tops are normally stronger and more durable than the bottoms, so it will be easier to keep all of the meat inside the bun.
Soda Straw Hack
When placing a straw in a can of soda, odds are the straw will come flying back up at you due to the carbonation. A simple way to fix that annoying habit is to flip the tab around and place the straw through the hole.
Mango Hack
Mangoes can be the biggest pain to cut, but thanks to this hack it has never been easier. After slicing the ends off the mango, cut slices into the fruit both vertical and horizontally to create a checkerboard.
Next, pop out the mango from behind for the perfect bite.
Ant Hack
Just like you, the ants love the warm weather. If you’re looking for a natural way to get rid of the pesky creatures, grind up some corn kernels in a blender to create homemade cornmeal.
Put a few piles near the ants homes and they will disappear in a few days time.
Chip Hack
Next time you have a party forget about taking out those chip bowls. Instead fold the edges from the top of the bag in.
Next, push the bottom corners up from the bag, allowing the chips to move up as you go. The bag will create its own bowl, leaving less for you to clean up!
Fruit Fly Hack
Fruit flies can be super annoying but this simple hack will allow them to flock to one place. Cut up a banana and mix it with some left over mango peels in a small container. Next, cover the top with some plastic wrap and poke a tiny hole in the top. The flies will be attracted to the fruit and go there instead of flocking to your food.
After a while, cover the container and remove the flies from your kitchen.
Popsicle Hack
Popsicles are super yummy, but also very messy and sticky. To solve this problem, take a small paper cup and cut a small slot the size of a popsicle stick in the bottom.
Next time you go to enjoy a popsicle, slide the stick into the cup to catch the mess when it drips. This can also be done with a cupcake holder.
Condiment Hack
At your next BBQ, forget bringing out hundreds of bottles worth of condiments.
Instead fill a cupcake tin with all of the condiments, allowing everyone to use them at the same time.
Beach Hack
Next time you hit the beach don’t worry about leaving your wallet on your chair thanks to this hack. Pop the top off of an old shampoo bottle and cut a slit big enough into the top of the bottle to hold all of your belongings.
Just slide your belongings back in and pop the top back on the bottle. Odds are no one is going to want to steal your shampoo!
Cold Water Hack
Nothing is worse than going to take a cool and refreshing drink of water and instead have a big mouthful of warm water.
Next time, fill your water bottle so it sits just below the bottle neck. Place the bottle on its side and freeze it overnight. Then fill up the bottle with water for an icy cold drink!
