A state of emergency has been declared in Louisiana due to historic floods that are leaving chaos and havoc in their wake. In times like these, heroes are needed, such as the man in the following video.

In a daring rescue, the man jumps aboard a sinking vehicle and pulls at what seems to be the cover of a convertible. Within seconds of the car becoming completely submerged, he yanks a woman out from the car. The woman, distressed, begins yelling “Get my dog,” her pet which is still in the car. The man begins to look, but maintains his initial goal of trying to shepherd the woman to safety, even saying, “He’s gone,” at one point in the video. Just as the woman yells, “He better not be!” the man reaches down, almost surprising himself and says “I’ve got your dog, get to the boat!” as he pulls the canine out of the water.
