Last year, McDonald’s announced it would start selling mozzarella sticks for just $1. Cheese lovers around the world celebrated the new menu item.

However, a significant number of McDonald’s customers are complaining about the delicious mozzarella sticks for a very specific reason. The cheese in the sticks seems to be missing.

This is not a new problem for McDonald’s. Apparently the sticks have been cheese-less since September. It is also not an isolated incident, as multiple reports of cheese-less sticks have been filed, including reports in the UK. It’s a global cheese-less pandemic!

McDonald’s has acknowledged the problem, hearing the customers complaints.

“We are aware of a low volume of guest concerns about our Mozzarella Cheese Sticks,” a company spokesperson shared with the Chicago Tribune in a statement. “In these instances, we believe the cheese melted out during the baking process in our kitchens and shouldn’t have been served. We apologize to any customers who may have been affected. We are working to fix this in our restaurants.”

Hopefully McDonald’s will be able to fix the problem soon so cheese lovers all over can be reunited with the ooey-gooey mozzarella sticks.
