Sergeant First Class Jason Michael Webb, a combat medic who had been deployed overseas for the last two years, decided to make his return extra special for his beloved daughter Hayley. Webb is a veteran who, due to his duty as a soldier, missed Hayley’s birth, and was deployed for the first six years of her life.
“Words can’t describe it,” he told Fox 4 News Kansas City, detailing how difficult it was for his daughter to grow up without her father being there all the time. So when he thought about the best way to surprise his daughter with his return, he was reminded of how she loved watching all those YouTube videos of soldiers surprising their loved ones in wonderful ways. Sergeant Webb decided to take a crack at that method.
In an event at her middle school in Independence, Missouri, Hayley was told that she would be announcing and interviewing some veterans. Little did she know, one of the introductory bios she would be reading to the gathered guests would be her very own father’s.
Soon, her voice cracking as she put the details of the bio together, she looked up from the note to see her father coming toward her. They hugged and through the microphone you could hear the young girl crying.
“Were you surprised?” he asked his daughter through their emotional embrace.
“I’m just so happy,” Hayley said through tears. “Christmas came early.”
Way to make an entrance, Sergeant Webb!
