NBA Star Derrick Rose Cleared of Rape Allegations
New York Knicks player Derrick Rose and two of his friends have been cleared of charges they broke into a woman’s apartment and had sex with her while she was drunk.
The basketball star and his pals, who were sued for $21 million, were cleared of all charges against them in a Los Angeles civil court on Wednesday, after a federal jury agreed with the player’s story, which revolved around consensual late-night sex with an ex-girlfriend.
The panel’s decision was unanimous.
The woman reported the incident to Los Angeles police two years after the alleged rape.
Rose and his associates disputed the woman’s account, insisting she sought out sex with the men at Rose’s house and orchestrated the plan for them to come to her apartment, adding she led each man in turn to her bedroom.
She also accused them of drugging her, according to TMZ.
