Mikaela Kellner was at the beach with a few friends when a strange man approached them trying to sell publications for the homeless, the BBC reports. Kellner said that she was suspicious of the man when he began to linger around their area. Then, one of her friends noticed that her phone was gone.
“There was no time, so I ran after him, maybe 15 meters or so,” Kellner said, according to BBC. “One of my friends is also a police officer, so we got hold of him. He tried to get away so we held onto him harder.”
The stolen phone was recovered and the man was arrested. A photo of Kellner’s heroic take-down has since gone viral.
In it, bikini-clad Kellner forcibly holds down the assailant with ease. She reportedly told the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet that she would have went after him even if she were naked. Kellner is now being praised for her actions.
“I’ve had a lot of positive comments both from friends and colleagues,” she said. “It happens all the time that valuables are taken like this…I mainly just wanted to raise awareness of how cunning these people are, almost like magicians.”
