Pamela Anderson has joined the ranks of the celebrity footwear designers after creating a new line of ‘vegan’ boots, styled after her old trademark UGGs.
The animal-loving former Baywatch star, who has been a vegan for two decades, has launched her new UGG-like boots, called Pammies.
“I’m excited about my boots coming out, which you know has been this labor of love for me because I made those darn UGG boots popular,” she told People.
The star admits she had no idea animals were being harmed to make her favorite comfortable footwear, adding, “They (UGG bosses) used me a lot for promoting, but I helped them create their brand… I thought that the animals were being shaved and kept well. That was the beginning of my animal activism career, and since then I’ve been trying to create an alternative.”
The actress’ suede-like boots are made from recycled fabrics in the star’s adopted California, and they come in three styles – the Cove Classic, the Zuma and the Malibu – which are names linked to Anderson’s favorite beach spots near her home in Los Angeles.
The Barb Wire star is thrilled with the finished products, insisting fans can wear Pammies anywhere.
“You can wear them at the beach, around Malibu and the sky’s the limit,” she added. “I’m really excited about the project that I’m involved in because it’s something that I’ve always wanted to do – and it’s actually happening.”
Pammies will launch online in October and will be available at Ron Robinson stores in November.
And that’s not the only project fashion-forward Pam has been working on recently. She has also designed a line of high-fashion shoes and accessories using non-toxic plastic, cottons, acrylics and rubbers with French designer Amelie Pichard.
