Rest, Relax and Dog Rescue in Turks and Caicos

Potcake Place is Turks and Caicos’ dog rescue that can turn your island vacation into a puppy rescue mission. Located in the island of Providenciales, Potcake Place’s mission is for their dogs to engage in social interaction with people to prepare the dogs for their future home.
You can give your thanks to Jane Parker-Rauw for this puppy experience. Parker-Raux founded Potcake Place 20 years ago, and has since saved and homed over 5,000 dogs. Her decision to start this organization sparked when she moved from England and saw endless dogs without homes.
Puppies need socialization with humans, especially for the hope of them being adopted. Because there are so many puppy lovers out there, Parker-Rauw realized that gearing her mission toward tourists could even further help the Turks and Caicos “potcakes,” which is the island’s name for stray dogs.
In 2010, Parker-Raux began involving tourists in her program, where they can take the puppies for an hour walk on the beach in the morning. The adoption center provides tourists with everything they need for their hour with the pup, so all the tourist needs to bring is some “TLC”.
This addition to the program greatly benefits the puppies and the tourists. They mutually thrive on engaging with each other, both coming away from the experience fulfilled.

The dogs get to see how good they can be treated, making them more friendly and ready for adoption. Even many American tourists fall victim to the love of these animals, adopting them into their own homes.
So don’t just relax on your next island getaway, relax with a rescue pup and book your next trip to island Providenciales of Turks and Caicos.
