Despite her recent proclamation that she was “done” with the character of Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling is entering the Wizarding World again this fall. September 6 will see the launch of three new ebook shorts set within her acclaimed series.
The series will be called Pottermore Presents, and according to the site will be made up of new writing and previously published content, described by the site as:
“…bite-sized eBooks that dig deep into the Harry Potter stories, with tidbits taken from Pottermore’s archives and original writing from J.K. Rowling. The series offers Harry Potter fans added insights into the stories, settings and characters and were all lovingly curated by Pottermore.”
Each of the three will focus on different characters related to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy, the central location of the series. The breakdown is as follows:
- Short Stories from Hogwarts: Power, Politics, and Pesky Poltergeists: Focuses on potions master Horace Slughorn, with information about the evil Dolores Umbridge and Voldemort puppet Professor Quirinus Quirrell.
- Short Stories From Hogwarts: Heroism, Hardship, and Dangerous Hobbies: Focuses on Order of the Phoenix members and Hogwarts professors Minerva McGonagall and Remus Lupin.
- Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide: Will focus on the grounds of the school itself, with emphasis paid to “its more permanent residents, its secrets, its hidden rooms and corridors.”
The announcement of the books comes at a time of relative rebirth for the series.
The play and accompanying script-book for Harry Potter and The Cursed Child were massively successful upon their July release, while spin-off film Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them is scheduled for release later this year.
