After a dedicated Deadpool fan lost his life to cancer, Ryan Reynolds wrote a touching tribute to the fan that has been shared wide and far online.

Reynolds met 13-year-old Connor ” Bubba” McGrath from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Through the foundation, McGrath became the first person to screen Deadpool six weeks before the film was released. McGrath had been hospitalized in Edmonton, Alberta.

“Connor was 13. But this kid… He was smart. He was funny. And not just funny ‘for a kid’ – or funny ‘for a person battling something awful,’” Reynolds wrote in the letter. “He was unqualified funny. He had that… thing.”

Reynolds even defended McGrath after many thought he was way too young to see the R-rated film.

“Before you jump down my throat for showing a 13-year-old an R-Rated film, please know this kid knew more swear words than a British chef,” Reynolds wrote.

After the initial screening, Reynolds and McGrath kept in touch by giving the teen his personal cell phone number so the pair could exchange “pages and pages” of texts.

“He went way too early and it’s impossible to reconcile. Connor was a great friend, a great son, and a light to the people lucky enough to know him,” Reynolds wrote. “I’m grateful I got to orbit Connor’s world for a brief time.”

Reynolds thanked the Make-A-Wish Foundation for bringing them together and encouraged others to make donations to this lovely charity. Reynolds even confirmed, “I can pretty much guarantee, your money’s going to a damn good place.”

“See ya down the road, Bubba,” Reynolds wrote at the end of the letter.
