Resolutions aren’t just for your individual goals. Resolutions can also be extremely helpful to your relationship.
Make your relationship stronger in 2016 by implementing these resolutions.
Time: Make time to connect with your partner and do things that you both enjoy to do. Taking time to be active and present with one another will prevent your relationship from becoming boring or dull. Whether it’s taking a cooking class or going to a Zumba class together, opening your relationship to some adventure and new experiences can be refreshing.
Share: It’s important to have your own goals, but communicate those goals with your partner. Share interest in their professional and personal goals by motivating them to continue. At times we all need a cheerleader to keep us strong and persistent. Supporting one another will only ensure success for both of you and can positively uplift the trust in your relationship.
Praise: Praise more than you criticize by complimenting one another. Taking time to acknowledge a person’s strength ensures their self-esteem and gratitude for the relationship. Big or small, successes and compliments can go a long way to make the other person feel appreciated. Remind them of the reasons why you love them, whether it is a good or bad day. Vocalizing the strengths in each other will breed kindness into the relationship.
Emotion: Building emotional intelligence within a relationship can improve the quality and communication between each other. The ability to be patient and evaluate emotions allows you both to communicate effectively. Truly listening to each other will strengthen the emotional honesty in the relationship.
Let go: Whether it is the past or the nitpicking things that bother you, try to let things go. Backbiting comments can ruin each other’s self-esteem and can jeopardize the foundation of the relationship. Pick and choose your battles, do not let the small irritations develop into something bigger. Begin the new year with honesty and a clean slate for your relationship.
