Bride Makes 3-Year-Old Cancer Survivor a Flower Girl in Her Wedding
Weddings are beautiful, heartwarming celebrations of love in which two people commit to being there for each other, through thick and thin, for as long as they live. With all of the emotions that come with that day, there was another element of Hayden Hatfield’s wedding that brought even more smiles and tears of happiness. In addition to marrying Adrian Ryals, the man she loves, she met Skye Savren-McCormick, the little girl she saved.
When Savren-McCormick was just 2 years old, she was tragically diagnosed with two types of cancer. Given just a 10 percent chance to live by doctors, she began to improve after receiving a bone marrow transplant. It was Hatfield’s; she had anonymously donated it.
Now 3 years old, Savren-McCormick is getting healthier. After the donation, both parties contacted each other in the hopes of meeting for the first time. What better place to meet, Hatfield wondered, than at her wedding? Hayden invited Skye and, to make the occasion all the more special and meaningful, made her the flower girl. The precious little girl took her duties seriously, picking out her own dress and practicing her walk in her living room.
