Teacher Helps Students De-Stress By Writing Encouraging Messages on Their Desks Before Exams

Finals season can be pretty stressful, but one teacher from New Jersey is hoping a small message will help her students relax.

Chandni Langford, a fifth-grade teacher in New Jersey’s Woodbury School System, is hoping to take the stress away from her students as they sit down to take the PARCC, a high-level state test. In order to soothe their nerves, Langford came in early and wrote a kind message of encouragement on each of her students’ desks.

Along with the message, Langford also left a couple donut holes as a sweet treat.

The school was quick to share Langford’s kind jesture on their Facebook page, commending the teacher for her efforts.

The caption said: “To motivate her 5th grade students, Mrs. Langford at Evergreen Avenue prepared inspirational, growth-mindset messages for every one of her students. Each personalized note was written in dry-erase marker on students’ desks so they could be cleaned up prior to starting PARRC.”

The photo quickly went viral with over 15,000 likes and over 19,000 shares as of publication time.

Langford also customized the messages to each student, tailoring the advice to their personalities and learning styles.

She also made sure to sign the message, “Your Teachers,” showing the students that everyone is rooting for them.
