Man Leaves His Normal Life Behind to Travel the Country in an RV to Rescue Dogs
You know the saying, “Living the dream”? Yeah, well in the dictionary — if it was in the dictionary — a picture of Lee Asher would be next to that catchphrase. That’s because Asher travels the countryside rescuing dogs and providing them with new homes.
On a mission to save canines, the enthusiastic, energetic Asher left his former life behind. He terminated the lease on his apartment, sold his truck, and bought an RV. Ready to embark on an epic adventure, he hit the road and began to travel across the country, rescuing dogs along the way. Now living out of the RV — with his many dogs by his side — he visits shelters and finds homes for as many dogs as he can. During each stop, Asher also hosts adoption events in an effort to find owners for his beloved pups. For further proof that Asher truly is a superhero, his company, The Asher House, covers all of the adoption fees.
“The Asher House is currently embarking on a cross-country mission to get dogs out of shelters and into loving homes,” it reads on The Asher House’s website. “We travel from state to state setting up events, working closely with the local animal shelter/humane society where they bring adoptable dogs to showcase to the attendees of the event, ideally the dogs that have been there the longest. We then pay for the adoption and provide a month’s supply of MyOllie dog food.”
Asher has recently taken his rescue mission north of the border into Canada and there’s every reason to believe that The Asher House will continue to expand and provide homes for more and more dogs.
