WATCH: Dad Makes Incredible Toast Sculptures for His Daughter
Adam Perry, the man behind @2slicesoftoast, may just be Dad of the Year. Whereas most sculptors work with clay or marble, this one works with toast. One of Perry’s two daughters has a severe food allergy, which means she can only have white toast and sunflower oil for breakfast each morning. He knew he couldn’t spice things up in terms of flavor, so he made breakfast fun by making new toast sculptures every day.
For the last two years, Perry’s toast masterpieces have grown more advanced. He makes everything from simple logos to X-wings. And, with nearly 14,000 followers, he has a strong fanbase. Although Perry is less prolific than he used to be with his two slices and breadknife, he takes time to add in a sculpture here and there.
Some of them are remarkably complex. In honor of a family holiday in Barcelona, Perry made a soccer jersey, the Spanish flag, and even the Sagrada Família, all out of two slices of toast. Much of the time, he captions descriptions of his toast sculptures, saying he made them “whilst the kettle boiled.” Judging by their quality, perhaps some of them took longer than that.
His most clever creation? A toaster with two slices of toast popping out, all made of toast. Now that’s the best thing since sliced bread.
