Tortoise Gets Wheels; Becomes Fastest Tortoise in Zoo

A tortoise at an Indian zoo got a second chance after a mongoose bit off one of its legs. The 2-year-old tortoise was fit with a set of wheels on its underside and is now faster than ever.
The female tortoise was the victim of a mongoose that supposedly came down from a nearby forest for a snack. According to the zoo, zookeepers noticed she couldn’t move or get to her food. So, she was taken in for a 30-minute operation where veterinarians fixed a set of wheels to the underside of her shell using a special resin.
“A few minutes after the surgery, the tortoise moved around unfazed by the prosthetic — neither the wheels nor the rod attached to it seemed to bother her,” zoo director K.S.S.V.P. Reddy told The Hindu.
She is now faster than the 14 other larger tortoises she lives with and is able to reach her food before anyone else.
You go, girl!
