Trick Your Brain Into Seeing This Black & White Photo in Full Color

This isn’t some Photoshop magic. The above black and white photo will magically be visible in full color after staring at it for a few seconds – with one slight catch.

The BBC’s “Colour: The Spectrum of Science” shows a woman staring at the original black and white photo and then shows her the same image in “false color.” In the center of the false color image is a blue dot, which the woman – and you the viewer – is told to stare.

What happens according to the other woman administering the test is that by staring at the center blue dot you are adjusting the light sensitivity receptors in your eyes to the different colors in the image.

“This is the same black and white image you saw before, but because we’ve adapted the receptors in the different parts of your eye, you’re now seeing it in full color,”the woman stated.

Perception really is a strange phenomenon.
