Turkish Company Creates Real-Life Transformers Out of BMW’s

With the dawn of driverless cars on the horizon, vehicle technology has certainly come a long way, but these BMW’s are definitely more than meets the eye.

Turkish company Letvision unveiled on Tuesday a real-life “Transformer,” albeit without the mobility and kicka**-iness of the 2007 movie robots. Still, it is an actual car that becomes a standing Autobot, or as Letvision calls them, Letrons.

The first to be unveiled was Antimon, a red robot that transforms from a BMW 3-Series vehicle.

A video uploaded to YouTube has begun to go viral, with tens of thousands of views. Watch:

According to Fossbytes, Antimon is far from where his ancestors in Transformers are. The car itself isn’t drivable on the road and when transformed, the robot can’t walk and can only move its fingers, wrists, neck and hands.

Letvision hopes that, as word spreads, future funding on the pet project could come in to help advance the technology. The company also has plans for four other Letrons: Bizmut, Argon, Wolfram and Tanfal, as they call them.
