Two men have been killed and a third seriously injured in a plane crash on the set of Tom Cruise’s new movie in Colombia, according to multiple reports.
A small plane used by the crew on the set of the film Mena crashed in the Andes on Friday, according to sources.
Cruise, who is a trained pilot, was not on board the plane at the time of the incident.
The twin-engine Aerostar ran into bad weather after taking off from Santa Fe de Antioquia and reports identify the two who died in the subsequent crash as American pilot Alan David Purwin (on right above, with actor Jamie Foxx) and Colombian Carlos Berl. Jimmy Lee Garind, also from the U.S., is in hospital in Medellin with serious injuries.
Cruise arrived in Colombia last month to start work on the film, which tells the story of a pilot who worked for notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar.
