An Uber driver from Chicago recently went above and beyond for a customer. Jose Figueroa drove to the O’Hare International Airport to pick up a man who had just emigrated from Ukraine. After Figueroa dropped the man off in the suburb of River Grove, he noticed the man’s wallet in the back seat. The wallet contained an impressive $3,000, according to ABC11 News.
The man had told Figueroa during the car ride that he sold his business and that the money he had was his life savings.
According to A Plus, Figueroa had no way of contacting the man because the app deletes the customer’s phone number after the ride ends. So, Figueroa did what only a very honest and determined man would do. He went back to the drop-off site and started knocking on doors to see if he could find the gentleman.
Eventually, he found the man and his sister who were overjoyed upon the wallet’s return. They thanked him with a $100 tip.
“I mean there was temptation,” Figueroa told ABC11. “I’ll be honest with you. But me being a Christian, I couldn’t. I wanted to make sure I sleep good, so that’s what I did. I returned the money and the wallet.”
