Watch As Famed Sign Language Gorilla, Koko, Adorably Adopts Two Kittens

To celebrate her 44^th birthday, a gorilla who can sign approximately 1,000 words was given a surprise birthday present: two adorable kittens.

Koko has been exposed to sign language and English from a very young age. Researchers estimate Koko has learned to use over 1,000 signs and understands about 2,000 spoken English words. Koko is surprisingly adept at communicating with the staff at the Gorilla Foundation in Redwood City, California.

To reward Koko and help celebrate her birthday, the gorilla was given a box of kittens and the adorable reaction was captured on video.

In the video, Koko scoops one of the kittens, “Ms. Gray,” out of the box and cradles the kitten in her arms and caresses her against her body.

Then, toward the end, Koko signs to her trainers to put the kitten on her head. How could you not want these adorable fluff balls crawling all around you?
