Watch What Happens When Seth Meyers Invites Melisandre From ‘Game of Thrones’ to a Baby Shower
Brace yourself, a baby shower is coming.
During Thursday’s episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers, host Seth Meyers and Carice van Houten imagined what it would be like for Melisandre from Game of Thrones to attend a baby shower.
Turns out Melisandre isn’t so great at giving motherly advice and the results were hilariously awkward.
“Clutch your child close to your breast, woman,” Melisandre said when she was sharing an inspirational quote about motherhood. “For the night is dark and full of terrors.”
When asked if the happy couple knew the sex of the baby, Melisandre offered her cryptic wisdom regarding the subject.
“Pray that it’s a son so the Lord of Light can look down upon him with favor,” Melisandre said. “And if it’s a girl, lock it away in a dark tower forever and hope it’s not consumed by grayscale.”
Meyers pulled Melisandre aside and explained to her that this was probably why she has trouble making friends. He suggested taking it down a notch and trying to be more friendly.
“You’re always saying you don’t have any female friends, and this is why,” Meyers said to Melisandre. “Maybe stop telling people the night is dark of full of terrors.”
“Yeah, but the night is dark and full of terrors. Everyone knows that,” Melisandre responded.
The characteristically dour Melisandre made another attempt to be friendly, but couldn’t exactly get the hang of it. She tried to share a “funny story” right before giving a “sword” as a gift to the expecting parents.
“I gave birth once. A shadow demon. I will never forget how it emerged from my womanhood, its claw-like hands grabbed onto my ankles so that it could propel itself into the night air.”
