‘Tis the season to be giving and those who have been nice will be rewarded with cold hard cash from the Teton County Sheriff’s Department in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The department has been given a very interesting offer – to deliver the gift of a holiday bonus in the coming weeks for those who are on their best behavior.

The generous anonymous donations are courtesy of Teton County’s wealthy philanthropists who want to reward their residents for not being naughty. Jackson Hole Daily reports a “substantial amount” of money has been given to local law enforcement to hand out to residents this holiday season.

Teton County Sheriff Jim Whalen said, “I have received cash from some anonymous donors to give out to people prior to the holidays.”

In addition to being on the lookout for criminals, their deputies, officers and troopers will be putting out an APB (all persons bulletin) in search of people doing good deeds. If you’re one of the lucky do-gooders who gets pulled over, you will be handed $50 to $100 on the spot instead of a speeding ticket.

Getting on the good deeds list could be for almost anything. According to the sheriff, you could be rewarded for helping a stranger out of a snowbank, or exercising good driving habits, calling dispatch with helpful public safety information or even being a witness to a crime.

“It might even just be someone who is down on their luck. This is all about spreading goodwill in almost any way we can,” Whalen added.

Being Secret Santas is just icing on the Christmas cake for residents who are already impressed with the Teton County Sheriff’s Office. Here is a complimentary post from their Facebook page.

The cash giveaway also aligns itself with the Teton Sheriff County mission statement which promises amongst preserving peace, justice and safety, “customer service and excellence, forever upholding the constitutional rights of all people.”

Handing out free money is one sure way to make the customer very happy while brightening their holiday spirits.
