It’s one for the history books…. He did it!!!

American Pharoah has put an end to the 37 year long drought of Triple Crown champions, dashing into victory at yesterdays Belmont Stakes!  American Pharoah is now the 12th member of an elite group of horses in history to ever earn this rare title – one that hasn’t been achieved since 1978.

The American Thoroughbred – owned by Egyptian-American entrepreneur Ahmed Zayat, CEO of Zayat Stables, LLC and trained by Bob Baffer – was the first horse to take first place in all three races – Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes – in over three decades, and it was jockey Victor Espinoza who rode the three-year-old bay colt to victory in every one of them!

This is not the first time Espinoza, now 43, is making headlines.  In both 2002 and 2014 Espinoza came so painfully close to taking that triple crown – winning the Kentucky Derby and Preakness both times, but just coming up short at the Belmont race.   But Espinoza got a different feeling than ever before when it came to American Pharoah – he knew he had nothing to worry about and that American Pharoah already owned that Triple Crown before the last race even began.

Don’t worry, this won’t be the last we see of American Pharoah – Zayat doesn’t believe his horse is finished making history, and he plans for his prized colt to continue racing.
