Woman Is Hoping a Viral Facebook Will Lead Her to the Boy Who Left a Heartbreaking Apology Note on Her Door

When Chrissy Marie found a note on her door, she never expected it to break her heart.
The Lakewood, Washington native is hoping to find the boy that left $5 and an adorably heartbreaking note on her front door. The note was an apology explaining why the boy took her wind chime and was simply signed “Jake.” “I am sorry that we stole your wind chime,” Jake wrote. “Our mom died and liked butterflies so my sister took it to put by our window. I am sorry. This is only money I have. Please do not be mad at us.” Marie wants to give Jake his money back, along with another wind chime so he and his sister can each have one. “I wanted to cry because apparently he felt bad for what his sister did. And I think he might be scared,” Marie told Seattle television station KCPQ. “I’m not condoning the stealing part but he did try to do right for what his sister did, and I lost my mom at a young age so I know how hard it is.” Marie is finding it difficult to track down Jake, as she just moved to the neighborhood. The fact that Jake is a very common name isn’t helping her search either. “Apparently, there are a lot of Jakes, according to some of the kids that go to a school nearby,” Marie told The Huffington Post. Marie extended her search to Facebook hoping some of the local groups could help out. “Well Jake, I not sure who you are, but you can come get your money back sweetie,” Marie wrote. “I am not mad, please come over to my house.” While her Facebook post has been widely shared, Marie has yet to find the author of the mysterious note. “This story went a lot further than I expected,” Marie explained to The Huffington Post. “I just expected the local group I posted to and my friends and family to see the post. I just wanted to give this little boy his money back. I did not expect all of this.” Hopefully, Marie can find Jake and she can give him the wind chime he deserves.
