As part of their ongoing effort to catch up with the cinematic juggernaut that is Marvel Studios, DC Comics and Warner Bros. aired a preview special, DC Films Presents: Dawn of The Justice League, where they focused on the upcoming slate of DC films leading into their Avengers-style team up, Justice League.

Airing on the CW Network, home of DC-produced television series Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow, the show was hosted by filmmaker Kevin Smith and DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns.

In addition to showing new footage from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and premiering a new trailer for Suicide Squad, the special premiered the first footage from Wonder Woman.

Set to voiceover from Johns explaining Wonder Woman’s origin, importance to feminist culture, and status as the greatest “fighter” in the DCU,  the sizzle reel footage shows brief clips of Wonder Woman/Diana on Paradise Island, heading to “man’s” world, fighting unnamed soldiers, and the film’s World War I setting.

In an insert interview, Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot said about the character, “We’re going to see her coming of age, the entire history, what’s her mission.” Co-star Chris Pine added, “Telling a story like this now is pivotal and important, the story of a very powerful woman.”

In addition to Wonder Woman the TV special also confirmed that, as fans have long suspected, the Green Lantern Corps will be represented in the Justice League films. COO Johns, a longtime writer of the character, announced “The Green Lanterns and the Green Lantern Corps will be coming to join the Justice League universe.”

No casting announcements have been made, nor has it been confirmed which of the numerous Green Lantern characters will be used, though the film will not be related to the 2011 Green Lantern film that starred Ryan Reynolds.

The upcoming slate of DC Cinematic properties is scheduled to begin with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on March 25, 2016, followed by Suicide Squad on August 5, 2016, Wonder Woman on June 23, 2017, Justice League Part One on November 17, 2017, and films starring The Flash, Aquaman, Shazam, Cyborg, and the Green Lantern Corps to be released beginning in 2018.
