For 35 Years, Five Friends Have Reunited to Take the Same Photo
Talk about tradition! For the past three decades, five friends have gathered to take the exact same picture every five years. The tradition began 35 years ago when the group graduated high school in Santa Barbara, California. In the picture, the group of guys can be seen sitting on a fence with one of the guys proudly holding out a jar. Each time they sit in the exact same order, from left to right: John “Wedge” Wardlaw, Mark Rumer-Cleary, Dallas Burney, John Molony and John Dickson. “It was just us guys, no parents, enjoying time by ourselves,” John Wardlaw told California television station KEYT. “We all got up there and made the horrible expressions we’re making, and took the picture and the rest is history.” While the people in the frame may stay the same, the hair and clothing styles have definitely changed over the years. They have even kept their serious expressions in all of the photos. “I think we were trying to look cool,” the guys told Inside Edition. While Dickson is the only one who still lives in Santa Barbara, the five guys have still managed to remain close. “If you really care about your friends, try to keep your friendship going because we really appreciate that we’ve managed to keep this together. I think a lot of people regret losing touch with their best friends and you just have to try,” John Wardlaw told KEYT. The friends plan to take the photo every five years for the rest of their lives. “I’m committed until the end. I’m going to go until we are all gone,” Dickson told KEYT.
