Sure, your stairs get you from one floor to another, but what if every time you went upstairs, you were transported into nature? Thanks to one company, that’s now a possibility.

Artist Steve Crounse is the innovator behind RiserArt — special vinyl adhesives that adorn the face of your stairs to create a picturesque ascent that will take you to the beach, to the base of a waterfall, or even Venice, Italy. Crounse told YourDailyDish his inspiration came from visiting the stairways at Moraga and 16th Avenue in San Francisco (pictured above).

“Each are over 100 stairs, and someone decided it would be a great idea to create a continuous glass mural on the risers. It’s really beautiful,” said Crounse. “I was visiting the site one day and pondering my ugly stairway back home, and set about trying to come up with a way to produce a similar effect.”

Crounse revealed it took some experimentation to find the right materials, but he was finally able to land on something that was durable, easy to install, as well as easy to remove without damaging the stairs or leaving a residue. Crounse said his adhesive is similar to FatHead, the wall decor company that specializes in sports figures and logos, as well pop culture icons.

The home decor business is also unique in that they create all their products to order. Considering most stairways come in various shapes and sizes, this allows the small business to fit the needs of any customer. Additionally, if a customer wants to use any personal photos, Crounse said it’s possible as long as the resolution is of high enough quality.
