Police Dept. Surprised This Fallen Cop’s Daughter and Sent Her Off to Prom

When Sierra Bradway scheduled to take her prom photos, she had no idea a crowd would be there to send her off.

Bradway’s father, Rod, was an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Officer who was killed in the line of duty in 2013. Bradway wanted to include her dad in her special day and planned to take pictures by his gravesite. However, when Bradway showed up to take pictures, she got the surprise of her life.

As she arrived, Bradway found two police officers on horseback surrounding her father’s grave. Dozens of police officers from the IMPD joined them up to surprise Bradway and give her a proper send-off to the big dance.

“There were a lot of laughs, some tears, but most importantly, there was love,” the Indianapolis Police wrote on Facebook. “Sierra, we know your father is smiling from heaven. Know that your Blue Line Family will always be here for you.”

Bradway’s prom date, Brock Spayd, is part of the police family as well. His father is a Marion County Sheriff and his mother reached out to the IMPD to coordinate the surprise.

According to The Indianapolis Star, Rod Bradway “did everything for his kids.” Knowing this, the IMPD did not hesitate to say no when they heard the request.

As the pictures came to a close, the officers sent Sierra Bradway and her date off for a fun and safe night.

Rod Bradway died in the line of duty about four years ago. While the officer was responding to a woman’s screaming, he was ambushed and shot six times.
