We’ve heard of new moms taking dance class to shed unwanted baby weight and bond with their newborns. Now there’s a way for new dads to get their groove on while bonding with their babies as well.
GroovaRoo Dance™ in San Diego, California has designed a way for fathers to bond with their babies while shimmying, turning, snapping and fist pumping to the sounds of “If You Want To Be Happy.” The babies are secured in a frontal backpack papoose designed by GroovaRoo as well so the dads can safely bust their moves while their wives get some much needed time alone.
These dads are winning at fatherhood

Bonding through dance is the exact philosophy that GroovaRoo is trying to accomplish. According to their website they believe, “Dancing with your baby is one way to reconnect you and baby to this vital, parent-child synchronization and bonding. Dancing with your family is your birthright. Let’s reclaim it for your family and for future generations to come!”
This new dance craze began in July 2015 when married couple and new parents themselves, Meeshi and Amber Anjali, wanted to find a way to bond in business while beginning their family.
Meeshi Anjali has been teaching dance for 20 years to people of all ages and all styles — including Afro-Cuban dance, Afro-Brazilian dance, Lindy Hop Swing and Urban Soul Line Dancing. He is the founder of the Firehouse Swing Dance, a weekly Swing Dance established in 1998.
Amber Anjali has supported women in their transition into motherhood as a Birth Doula, Placenta Encapsulation Specialist, Postnatal Yoga Instructor and Nanny. She is also a Certified Babywearing Educator through the Center for Babywearing Studies — which provides the safest way to carry your baby.
Combine the two and you’ve got fathers carrying their babies safely while they freely dance about.
