With so much attention being paid to cops shooting civilians and the retaliation officers have faced in Dallas, Baton Rouge, and elsewhere, it’s stories like these that remind us that the world contains much more love than hatred.
In a post from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office in Cincinnati, Ohio, two deputies came to the rescue of a young boy whose shoes were stolen by bullies.
The youngster, who is not named in the post, was forced to wear his grandma’s shoes to school the following day and was “ridiculed and made fun of,” according to the post. To avoid further bullying, the boy skipped school the next day.
The two deputies heard about the story and started up a collection around the district and then drove the boy to the local Foot Locker store where they told him to pick out any pair of shoes he wanted.
Sheriff Neil stated, according to the Facebook post:
“In a time when nationally some want to bash police and portray us all in a negative light, I hope people realize THIS is the face of law enforcement! This is just one of countless stories of caring Deputies dedicated to going above and beyond for the citizens we serve.”
Judging by the boy’s face in the picture, it really made his day and just reenforces the idea that a few bad apples can never spoil the whole bunch.
