Idris Elba Is The Best James Bond In This Parody ‘Vulture’ Trailer
With the newest James Bond film opening in just a few short weeks, many are already looking to the future of the franchise as Daniel Craig’s uncertainty in the iconic role has come under question.
One name that fans have been pushing for as the “suave” 007 Agent is England’s denizen of cool, Idris Elba. The choice, unfortunately, has come under a bit of controversy, as Elba, who is black, would be the first to play the classically Caucasian role.
Many feel a black James Bond would veer too far from tradition and even the author of the series, Anthony Horowitz, weighed in recently about Elba’s being cast.
“Idris Elba is a terrific actor, but I can think of other black actors who would do it better. For me, Idris Elba is a bit too rough to play the part. It’s not a color issue. I think he is probably a bit too ‘street’ for Bond. Is it a question of being suave? Yeah.”
Maybe Horowitz has just watched a few too many episodes of The Wire and no other work that Elba has ever done? Because if any black actor were to take the role, Elba would be anything but “too street” for the sophistication of James Bond.
And the best news is that we don’t need to imagine what that would look like any more. Vulture has given us a glimpse of Elba as the MI6 secret agent in this “remix” trailer for Spectre. Watch:
Elba would be one bad-ass Bond.
Spectre lands in theaters November 6.
