This Rescue Dog and His New Owner Are Already Best Friends

The bond between this young woman and her recently adopted dog shows us what animal adoption is all about.

Kayla Filoon from Philadelphia, and her pit bull Russ were recently caught on camera cuddling by hey aunt, Jamie Holt. Their picture and story — which has gone viral on Facebook — will make you “Aww!! uncontrollably and want to adopt.

Oh, and while we’re at it, do you recognize this newfound stray: the Hingham Dog?

Around two weeks ago, Filoon stumbled upon Russ — sick and underweight — at a municipal animal shelter and it was love at first sight.

“He would not stop cuddling with me,” Filoon told Today. “I fell in love.”

So she adopted him, got him the treatment and nourishment he needed. This is what the pair looked like in the photo:

“The bond that we have is incredible,” Filoon told Today. “He does not leave my side.”

Holt, who volunteers at an animal shelter, told NBC Miami that she encourages others to adopt rescues dogs — because look at how happy her niece is!
