Ben Sturner of Long Island City, Queens says he looked outside of his window on 7:11 Thursday morning to see a remarkable sight. He described it as a “weird, reflective light” bouncing off the edifice of the Freedom Tower, the skyscraper built on the sited of the original World Trade Center.
Sturner took several photos of the phenomena, claiming he didn’t edit them in any way. Though he told ABC New York that he was initially reluctant to post the images on social media, he eventually decided they would help “lift people’s spirits.”
This isn’t the first time Sturner has gained coverage due to a 9/11-related photo. Last year, a photo he took at the same time of year depicted a rainbow seemingly emanating from the former WTC site and rising majestically into the sky.
Sturner attributes both photos to him being in the right place at the right time each year.
