Time-Lapse Captures Northern Lights in Spectacular Fashion

The Northern Lights are a true wonder of the world, with tourists making journeys of all kinds for a chance to see them in person.

The lights, scientifically known as Aurora Borealis, were given a stage to perform on last Wednesday as the city of Reykjavik in Iceland turned off streetlights in many neighborhoods for one hour in order for tourists and residents alike to enjoy the show in its full glory.

A time-lapse video of the lights dancing was recorded over a hotel in Hella, Iceland – about 60 miles southwest of Reykjavik.

The video is 27 seconds of pure magic:

Though the video is painfully short, the footage captured a full 30 minutes of the aurora borealis, the lights themselves like something straight from a fantasy film.
