Angelina Jolie and estranged husband Brad Pitt have reached a custody arrangement for their six children, the actress’ representative has confirmed.

The former couple have been in negotiations about who will maintain primary care of their brood, aged from eight to 15, after Jolie first filed for divorce from her spouse on September 19. The actress sought sole custody of the children in her legal papers, but Pitt then filed his response to her suit last week, asking for joint custody.

However, a statement released by Jolie’s team on Monday revealed that the children will remain in the actress’ care, while continuing “therapeutic visits” with Pitt.

“Childcare professionals have encouraged a legal agreement accepted and signed by both sides over a week ago,” the statement read. “In accordance with this agreement, the six children will stay in their mother’s custody, and the children will continue therapeutic visits with their father. This has been determined by childcare professionals to be in the children’s best interest.”

It is unclear at this time whether or not the agreement is permanent or temporary. But Jolie’s spokesperson continued the statement by saying: “We are not in a position to discuss the details.

“We hope, now that it is clear that the events which led to the dissolution filing involved minor children and their wellbeing, there will be understanding of the sensitivity of the family situation. We believe that all sides are committed to healing the family and ask for your consideration during this difficult time.”

The couple reportedly split following an alleged altercation between Pitt and his adopted son Maddox, 15, on board a private plane in September.

Meanwhile, despite reports that Pitt has pulled out of all promotional activities for his upcoming war movie Allied, a source has revealed that the actor is planning to attend the premiere of the film in Westwood, California, on Wednesday.

Paramount confirmed he would be attending the premiere, according to the New York Post’s gossip column Page Six, marking the first time he has been seen since the divorce drama began.
