It’s no secret that rainbow-colored drinks have been all the rage lately, with many looking to cash in on the colorful drink trend.

But one drink is standing out from the rest, and that is Matcha Mylkbar’s “smurf latte” in Melbourne, Australia. Unlike Starbuck’s colorful fruity drinks, this one has actual caffeine and is served hot.

According to Mashable, the blue latte gets its color from adding in an ingredient called E3 live blue algae powder. Yes, the stuff that breeds in lakes is now in your coffee. But don’t get turned off, it’s actually really delicious judging from the amount that gets sold each day.

“It’s been crazy. Over the weekend we’ve sold well over 100 of the lattes, and considering we’re a small 40-seat cafe, it’s a lot,” the cafe’s co-owner Nic Davidson told Mashable.

The coffee shop is vegan, so it’s not unusual for them to include strange ingredients like this one. The drink also includes lemon, ginger agave, and coconut milk.

So, what does it taste like? Apparently, a little sweet and a little sour.

“People think it’s going to be a bubble gummy sweet taste,” Davidson told Mashable. “You can definitely taste the agave and the lemon. It’s quite sweet and ‘soury’ kind of taste…but it’s difficult to explain taste – everyone thinks it’s different.”

Davidson also notes that the latte isn’t actually on the menu, but that the hype has been coming from Instagram.

“It’s like our beetroot and mushroom lattes. We even have people who don’t speak English ordering by just pointing to the photo on Instagram,” he said.

If you think you’d like to try one these bad boys, you’d have to go straight to the source because it doesn’t look like this drink will be coming to the states any time soon.

The blue powder ingredient has not been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
