Sometimes we can’t understand why people would own a dog if they can’t (or won’t) treat their pet with the care, love, and attention that it deserves. Many of these animals are abused and we never know about it. But every once in a while we do hear about it, and that’s because some awesome, kind person has swooped in to help. Take the case in the video below. You might just get happy tears when you see this chained-up dog rescued from terrible conditions.

Rusty Diamond had been chained up outside in Arizona his whole life. His owners neglected him. He had cuts, tumors, and flies all over his body. He barked and growled at all passersby. After observing him for several weeks, Rumble user “jpiper84” decided to try and pet him.

What happened next is truly a remarkable, heartwarming story, as Rusty went from a life of cruelty to a life of love.
